Unsure about which Dutch course suits you best? Koentact’s Dutch level assessment helps you find the perfect fit!
You might have received an email from Koentact to invite you for a Dutch level assessment. What the assessment looks like, how you can prepare for it, and what can you expect from it will be discussed in this blog.
Why does Koentact need to assess my Dutch level with an assessment?
We find it important to get an impression of your current written and spoken level of Dutch. Besides, we’d love to hear about your goals, so we can advise you on what steps to take to prepare for your Dutch course.
At Koentact, we have divided the CEFR levels into different courses. If your current level is A1, this might mean that you could either join Dutch Experience 2 (A1+) or Dutch Experience 3 (A2-) for example.
Your writing and reading skills might not match your speaking and listening abilities, which is why we assess both. This way, we can give you well-rounded, practical advice on which level would suit you best.
If your level is in between our course levels, we will discuss your wishes to make sure you’ll join the course that matches your goals. If you prefer to repeat certain things, you can choose the lower level. If you want to study by yourself and work on the things we gave as feedback, you can join the higher level.
What if the class doesn’t suit me after all?
If you still feel like the class is too difficult or easy, please do let us know after the first class. We can discuss different options to ensure you are in a class that excites you!
What can I expect from the level assessment?
There are two ways to get your level assessed:
- During our Open Day
- Online
During our Open Day
When you choose to get your Dutch level assessed at our Open Day, you will have your spoken assessment with one of our teachers at the event. To prepare, you can fill in the written assessment, which you’ll also discuss with the teacher. The assessment usually takes 15 to 20 minutes.
You can fill in the written assessment both online or by printing the document. If you don’t have time to fill out the written part beforehand, you can also get a copy to fill in during the event itself. You’ll be connected to a teacher after the written assessment is completed.
Online
When you choose to have your Dutch level assessed online, we’ll ask you to schedule an appointment with us through Calendly. You will be called by one of our teachers at the scheduled moment for the spoken assessment.
The teacher will review your written assessment beforehand, so they can discuss your written level during the call as well. That way, we can give you our recommendation of the level we think suits you best.
Would you like to get your level assessed online? You can sign up for a course, after which we’ll send you an email with instructions. You can complete your registration after having your level assessed.
