Amsterdam Language Cafe hosted another ‘All language exchange’ on May 23! This time, we collaborated with Punto Cubano, a Cuban salsa school. A place to learn a new and fun skill and to meet new people.
On Friday, May 23rd, we hosted the ‘all language exchange’ evening with two salsa workshops at Cafe Belcampo. This is a super nice cafe where you can work and where they host multiple events. Check their website or socials to see what is coming next.
When the people arrived, they all got a sticker. On the sticker, you could write your name, the languages you speak and which one you would like to practise! There was also a basket for the raffle later in the evening. Someone could win a free salsa course, and someone could win a free Dutch course!
The beginner workshop was very popular. Céline and Angel did a fun warm-up and made sure all our hips didn’t lie! The second workshop was intermediate level, and people showed us their best salsa moves!
After the workshops, Koen held a speech to thank the volunteers and Punto Cubano and presented the winners of the free Dutch course and salsa course! The winner of the Dutch course was a Dutch guy… Oops! He gave the free Dutch course to a girl he just met that night. He gave a very heartwarming speech and it was a beautiful act of kindness. These are the moments we live for!
It was a very fun night, more than 100 people came and danced the night away, practised languages and met new people/friends!

At the Amsterdam Language Cafe, we host a language cafe at ‘t Claverhuis, Elandsgracht 70, almost every week on Wednesdays. Currently we host the languages: Dutch, Spanish, Italian, French and English. The events are from 19:00-21:30, and they start with a workshop. After the workshop, you will practise with native speakers and others who want to practise the language. Since a few months we have: ‘Welkomsterdam’ where we practise Dutch while playing (board)games on Saturdays, 16:00-18:00. Check our Meetup or Instagram for the dates!
