We’re here to help you feel at home

Koentact was started by Koen, who believes no one should feel lonely in a new country.

Koen Gijzel, whose friends used to call his talent for meeting and connecting with people his “Koentact.” Koen’s passion for languages, cultures, and bringing people together began when he started teaching Dutch to French expats in 2008. Even back then, lessons were never just in a classroom, they happened at markets, in cooking classes, on photography walks, and even at “language dating” events where students could meet locals.

That same spirit is at the heart of Koentact today. Koen believes no one should feel lonely in a new country. His goal is simple: make learning Dutch a fun, social experience that builds real friendships. You’ll often find him chatting with students, sharing tips about Dutch life, or laughing with a group on a field trip.

We don’t just teach Dutch. We help you join the conversation in the language, the culture, and in the community.
