At Koentact, we are convinced that the best way to learn Dutch is by understanding its practical relevance. This means applying what you learned in the classroom during fun Saturday Field Trips!
Our Field Trips are not only designed to help you learn Dutch, but they will also let you discover the un-touristy side of Amsterdam, get in touch with genuine Dutch culture, and meet interesting locals. When you join us for an in-person course, you’ll be able to join us for 2 Field Trips, for every course you join!
Guided by your teacher, you will discover new parts of the city, get to know your classmates better and most of all: have fun. 💚
For level Dutch Experience 1, your first Field Trip takes place in a friendly and supportive environment, often led by Koen, the founder of Koentact. You’ll practice with Koentact teachers, who are patient and ready to help.
You’ll work in small groups, introduce yourselves, describe people, and take part in a fun word-finding challenge. This way, you get comfortable speaking Dutch in a relaxed setting before heading into the city.
Now that you’ve gained confidence, it’s time to take the next step! On your second Field Trip, you’ll follow a route through the city centre.
During the trip, you’ll be practising your spoken skills with each other and discovering new words along the way. You’ll receive a printed guide to write down notes and expand your Dutch vocabulary, while exploring the Jordaan, Leidsplein, Spui, or the 9 streets.
As a Dutch Experience 2 student, you’re ready to take your Dutch skills into the heart of Amsterdam! In this level, you’ll join two interactive Field Trips, practicing Dutch while exploring some of the city’s most iconic neighborhoods.
You’ll receive a printed Field Trip guide, helping you navigate the city. During the trips, you’ll complete fun language challenges and discover more about Dutch culture—all while improving your speaking skills.
For level Dutch Experience 3 (A1/A2-) and higher levels, Koentact has developed Field Trips in different neighbourhoods in Amsterdam, like the Indische buurt, Westerpark, Zeeburg, and more!
For these Field Trips, students will get a digital handout that includes all the content, information, questions, the route and exercises. Guided by their teacher, you’ll get to know nieuwe buurtjes while expanding your vocabulary, growing your confidence and getting to know your classmates even better.
